In early May 2020 I finished work on VE Day 75 for Mirror/Reach Special Projects.
I researched and wrote all of the features for this souvenir publication, starting with a description of the final events in the run-up to the German surrender, the celebrations and how they engulfed Winston Churchill and the royal family, the Home Front and the legacy of the war for Britain.
The challenge was to complete a lot of research and turn it into a lively and evocative account to accompany a stunning selection of photos from the Mirror huge picture archive.
